How to Craft an Easter Sermon that Speaks to the Truth of Our Current Circumstances

If you're not prepared yet with your Easter sermon—or Holy Week sermons—then here's help.

Here's an easy to apply, quick-to-craft sermon structure.

To go back in time for a sec, though—

wanted to help you prepare for Easter with a newsletter series. On March 9th, I wrote the first installment entitled "Resurrecting the Easter Story."

But—COVID-19 interrupted us all in countless ways.

Then, I turned my attention toward preaching in our current crisis.

So now, I've combined the two to offer the second installment, a video to show how to employ this simple story-structure process for Easter (or any sermon), during and after this pandemic.

To wit, I just demonstrated the structure in the pararaphs above: Want. But. Then. So.

The details of this process are explained in the blog post linked above so I won't repeat it here.

This short video demonstrates the process in real time to craft a message based on this structure that takes into account our present reality.

And I want to share a quick word of encouragement left on this video from a preacher in Lombardy, Italy. We truly are all in this together.

Thank you for this. Really helpful. Food for thought and creativity. Writing from Lombardy, where we are just starting to see light at the end of the tunnel. Be assured of our prayers for our friends and colleagues in the US. It is a hard road ahead, but always glimmers of light along the way.
— Lombardy, Italy

Whether you preach, lead, or worship this week, God bless you as you prepare your heart and mind for these holiest of days.
