Lenten Quotations for Preaching and Reflection (Free Download)
My father was a children's book author many times over. Throughout his decades of writing, he kept manilla folders stuffed with quotes.
Some of the quotes ended up in his books, a few landed in the abstract paintings he puttered at on the weekends, and all of them shaped his understanding.
When he reached his mid-seventies, he knew he could count the number of new projects he would still start and could see he would not use most of the quotes he cherished.
From that point on, one by one, he gifted me his folders as he relinquished his future in hopes their wisdom might guide my own.
I hope you find these Lenten quotes a similar kind of wisdom guide.
A few quotes may end up in your sermons, some may end up in your journals or artwork, and I hope many shape your understanding of Lent.
Here's one to get you started:
"A table spread for the poor is an altar for the rich" (Rabbinic saying).
Enjoy them.
