Before Preaching Lent, Go on Retreat—At Home!

Lenten Retreat, 2020.png

Lent is a big season. I don’t need to tell you that.

It’s such a big season that we need to prepare ourselves.

By the request of Backstory Preaching readers, I created our first-ever Lenten preparation retreat for preachers.

Designed to be conducted at home or in your favorite quiet spot, you’ll complete it over ninety minutes, three hours, or six, as you choose. Poetry, quotations, and creative spiritual exercises will help you foster quietness of mind and heart to carry you through the season.

To lead those we serve through and into holiness, perhaps we invite the Holy Spirit to do the same with us first.

Take time before Ash Wednesday to reflect, to sort your thoughts, to let Christ bring you wholeheartedly and single-mindedly into those forty days.

After this retreat you’ll approach the season more calmly, preach more authentically, and guide your people more wisely.

God bless you, Preacher.
